What does it cost to rent out your holiday apartment through Interhome?
Which models does Interhome offer property owners?
Interhome has been renting out holiday apartments since 1965 and has its roots in Switzerland. Today, Interhome (HHD AG) is part of the HomeToGo Group, together with e-domizil and atraveo. Property owners have two options:
| Model | What Interhome does | What you do | Costs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Self-management: atraveo by Interhome | Marketing, bookings, payments, collection, insurance | Set prices, manage the calendar, arrange cleaning and keys, look after guests on site | 17.5% + VAT (residence in Switzerland), otherwise 19.5% |
| Full service with a local office | Additional guest support, property care and individual services through to full service | Plan your own use | By quote, no published rate |
We describe self-management in detail on atraveo by Interhome. This page looks at full service and when it makes financial sense.
How much does Interhome full service cost?
Interhome publishes no percentage for full service. On the owner page, you fill in a form, then a member of staff contacts you with a quote. Swiss agencies do not publish their rates either. So we do not state a market price.
What you can calculate yourself: Self-management costs 17.5% plus VAT. In the Grindelwald example, with annual revenue of CHF 23'100, every extra percentage point costs you CHF 231. If the full-service quote is based on an assumed rate of 25%, you pay around CHF 1'405 more a year than with self-management. This uses an example rate, not an Interhome price.
| Option | Rate | Annual cost | You keep |
|---|---|---|---|
| atraveo self-management, VAT at 8.1% on the commission | 18.92% | CHF 4'370 | CHF 18'730 |
| Full service, assumed rate 25% | 25% | CHF 5'775 | CHF 17'325 |
| Full service, assumed rate 30% | 30% | CHF 6'930 | CHF 16'170 |
Deduct from the difference what you would otherwise pay for cleaning, key handover and guest support, or the value of your time. If you live far away, the calculation can quickly favour full service.
How do payouts, tourist tax and cancellations work?
- Payout: With atraveo, usually 7 days before arrival. For full service, Interhome promises “guaranteed payments”; the exact timing is set out in the quote.
- Tourist tax: With atraveo, it is usually settled on site between you and the guest. If it is collected in advance through a channel, Interhome passes it on without commission. The process for full service is not described publicly.
- Cancellation: Interhome’s customer T&Cs apply; you cannot set your own rules. From 60 days before arrival, you receive the cancellation fees minus commission if the property is not re-let.
- Contract: You can cancel atraveo by 30 November, effective at the end of the year. The notice period and contract term for full service are set out in the quote.
What extras does Interhome offer property owners?
- 20% discount on your own holidays in Interhome properties.
- Insurance package with every booking; with atraveo, cover up to EUR/CHF 3'000 per booking.
- Advance against future bookings for renovations.
- Personal booking link with 10% additional commission per booking.
- Referral programme offering up to CHF 600 for each new property owner.

What tips can help you with Interhome?
- Ask for the quote in writing, including the percentage, basis (with or without cleaning), VAT and notice period.
- Compare the quote with atraveo self-management plus a local cleaner.
- Check how many weeks you can use the property yourself and how to block them.
- Ask who accounts for tourist tax and the guest registration form with the municipality, and put it in the contract.
Interhome lists figures on its owner page: 70,000 holiday properties, 30,000 owners, 900,000 guests a year and over 200 local service offices in more than 20 countries. It does not say how many are in Switzerland.
Want to rent out your property yourself, but without paperwork? Stovita calculates tourist tax according to your municipality’s rules, handles the online guest registration form and schedules cleaning. Registration is free.
