What does it cost to list your holiday rental on HomeToGo?

What is HomeToGo for hosts?

HomeToGo, based in Berlin, is primarily a meta-search engine: it shows listings from many portals and directs guests to them. You can now also list directly as a host. The HomeToGo Group includes Interhome, e-domizil and atraveo. If you’re with atraveo by Interhome, your accommodation may already appear on HomeToGo through this network.

What models are there, and what do they cost?

What do you keep from a HomeToGo booking in CHF?

Grindelwald example: 4 nights at CHF 180 plus CHF 120 cleaning fee comes to CHF 840. For EUR, we assume 1 EUR = CHF 0.93. The annual fee of EUR 249 is therefore around CHF 232.

When does Flat pay off? Flex costs 13.3 percentage points more per booking than Flat, while Flat costs around CHF 232 a year. With Flex including VAT, Flat works out cheaper from around CHF 1'600 in annual revenue through HomeToGo; excluding VAT, from around CHF 1'750. That’s about two bookings like the example. This is a rough estimate of our own.

The key thing is how many bookings HomeToGo actually brings you. Direct listings are new, and it’s not yet clear how much demand they’ll attract. Start with Flex and switch if you get more than two bookings a year.

How do payouts, tourist tax and cancellations work?

  • Payout: We haven’t checked the timing or currency for Swiss hosts.
  • Tourist tax: HomeToGo doesn’t collect it. According to HomeToGo, tourist taxes aren’t included in the total price and must be mentioned in the listing. You collect the tax yourself and settle it with the municipality.
  • Cancellations: We haven’t checked the terms.
  • Commitment: Flex has no subscription. You pay for Flat per accommodation, per year.

What are the pros and cons of HomeToGo?

What tips can help you with HomeToGo?

  1. Start with Flex and count your bookings after a season.
  2. Switch to Flat once your annual revenue through HomeToGo reaches around CHF 1'600.
  3. Clearly state the tourist tax in your listing as an amount per person per night, so guests aren’t surprised when they arrive.
  4. Check whether your accommodation already appears on HomeToGo through atraveo or Interhome, to avoid duplicate listings.

How does HomeToGo fit in with your other channels?

If your accommodation is already listed on atraveo, Airbnb or Booking.com, it may already appear in HomeToGo’s search results. A separate listing is then most worthwhile if Flat lowers your per-booking fee. Keep all your calendars in sync so a HomeToGo booking immediately blocks the other channels. See the channel manager overview for how to do this.

With Stovita, you can connect HomeToGo and any other platform using a calendar link. Stovita calculates the tourist tax according to your municipality’s rules and shows it to guests in the total price for your direct booking.
